House tour: Brad’s place, part 1

Here is a picture of my good friend Brad and me:

Not only is Brad an awesome friend, killer party thrower, fun dance floor partner, and all around wonderful person, he is also the owner of a really great condo. I’ve been wanting to share pictures of Brad’s place for quite some time and I finally had the chance to snap a few shots when he had the Mr. and me over for dinner last week.

Brad’s place really epitomizes the best of small space living. His condo is gorgeously decorated and feels much larger than its 490 square feet. The condo was built in the late 1940s and completely rehabbed in 2008. We actually think it may have been the same developer that rehabbed my condo because many of the finishes are so similar.

Brad describes his decorating style as “cottage chic” and I have to agree.  His place mixes a sweet, homey, country vibe with modern sensibility. Today, we’ll tour his living room, dining room, and kitchen. On Monday, we’ll tour the rest.

Here is the view when you first walk in the front door:

I love the overall neutral color scheme with pops of bright red. The neat grid of photos above the sofa is the perfect complement to the plush, comfy couch. Here’s the view from the other side of the room, facing the front door. Don’t you just want to curl up in that leather chair?

And check out this sweet stack of books in the corner:

The red accent color extends into the dining room, right off the living room:

Finally, the adorable and well-appointed kitchen is located just off the dining room:

I love the striped pattern on the floor topped with two round area rugs. The red accents continue throughout the kitchen.

If Brad looks familiar, it may be because you saw him on House Hunters. That’s right! He starred on the show about two years ago when he purchased this place. He often gets recognized all over Portland which makes us all giggle.

Stay tuned… on Monday I’ll post pictures of the rest of Brad’s place.
